One week of intensive English at the London School of English

Eurojuris International's Diane Tries tried out the English class at the London School of English, now in partnership with Jurismus to offer language classes. Here is her account of this experience...

I had the chance to attend an English course in London this summer and would like to share my great experience. It started with the online registration for the course: the confirmation was received within a few hours, a test for the language skills is done online in order to find the right level, some proposals are made for your stay; it could be with a family or in one of the residences (which are proposed by the school, for a very fair price you have a stay in London for half-board which allows you to mingle with a lot of people from different countries). The whole process of registration for school and stay took me less than one hour.

The school is located is a wonderful area called Holland Park just beside the well-known Nothing Hill, not far away from the city centre and very quiet.

On arrival at the school on Monday morning, there is an interview to find out what you are expecting from the course and what your main focus is. According to the results of the interview, people are divided in different groups, you will get a teacher for the week, those groups number between 5 - 7 students; they try to have a variety of nationalities so that they do not all have to same language accents and problems. From then on you start with the lessons which are made of exchange and discussions focusing on different topics like social trends, networking, news and views, social English, decision making, newspapers, problem solving, listening and speaking, politics, correspondence, e-mailing, report writing. You will make a presentation and lead some discussions.

I was told by a Russian lawyer that the “legal English” courses were very good; she had studied at the school for 6 weeks and tried different courses (they were all perfect!).

Speaking with other participants, you find out that all teachers are very professional and interesting. I can also advise you to take the pass including the lunches and coffee breaks; the food is gorgeous (3 course menus). I met several people who came for a second time; this shows how good it is.

Even if you think that your level of English is good, you can always improve… and focus on your weaknesses. Do not hesitate to contact me if you want more information, I’ll be very happy to help you and do not forget…Eurojuris/Jurismus members get a 10% discount.
